Assumption student Christian Vegh part of Battle of the Bands winning duo.

Congrats to Christian Vegh (Assumption) and Silvio Campanaro (Notre Dame) for Winning the Battle of the Bands for Cancer with their band West Palm.  This Mark Bradley First Annual Fundraiser featured ten band finalists and raised money for the Canadian Cancer Society.  This is the second Battle of the Bands they entered and both times they have won and have been the youngest band (13-16yrs).  The boys donated some of their winnings back to the Relay for Life Cancer Fundraiser which they are playing at June 21 in LaSalle at 9:00 pm right after they play at the Tecumseh Art of Food and Wine at 6:30.  Last week they were featured at the Strawberry Fest and will also be playing at the International Children's Games opening ceremony and Balloonapalloza and other events.  Asked what motivates them to give back to the community playing at fundraisers and they both said that they are influenced by their music teachers (Pete Palazollo - Canadian Conservatory of Music, Lee Cochrane Long & McQuade and Brian Zanier IB music teacher at Assumption)  as well as other local musicians who step up and support those in need.
