W.E.C.S.S.A.A. Girls Volleyball Playoff Results

Assumption 1 Kingsville 3

The Sr. Girls Volleyball season came to an end last night.  The girls played their hearts out and even took a game from the Kingsville team, unfortunately came up short 3 games to 1.   The girls fought hard and played well.  Anna Sawicki, our team Captain has stepped up time and time again and her leadership and control on and off the court has certainly made a difference throughout the season.  Katie Schwab executed well, in one of her strongest games both in ability and vocally, to keep the girls positive and playing strong.  Donatella DeMarco impressed so many.  As a first time ever volleyball player, Donnatella proved to be the most consistent server on the team with much improved play at the net.  Claudia, Carly, Virigina, Jillian, and Serena contributed to some pretty exciting plays last night.   The coaches are very proud of you.  We also say goodbye to our Seniors, Anna Sawicki, Victoria Cope, Carly Malenfant, Donnetalla Demarco, Claudia Pacoraro, and Serena Valore.  We wish you all the best as you move forward in athletics and academics.
A very special thank you to all the teacher moderators who came out time and time again.  Mrs. Sawicki, Ms. Hoffman, Ms. Hebert, and a special thank you to Ms. McNamara.  The girls appreciate the time you gave, in order for them to play.   A big thank you to our score keepers, please see Mrs. Presello for community service hrs.

Coaches Colucci, Thomson, Naicker and Presello are very proud of you.  Keep working hard, most importantly keep a positive attitude, never give up.  Your attitudes are your greatest gift.
Assumption 3 Brennan 1

In junior girl’s volleyball news, our Purple Raiders took on the Brennan Cardinals in quarter-final play last night.  After a slow start, losing the first game, our girls rallied back to take the next three games and the match-20-25, 25-10, 25-16, 25-20.  With serving dominance from Anna Hu and Kaitlyn Mayers, the hitting clinic put on by Emma Rothera, defensive digs from Lorraine Yuen and the blocking/attacking combination from Lucy Novak all stemming from the new and improved Aleczia Habash’s sets, it was clear that our Raider girls are peaking at the right time.

Special shout out to our good luck charm Dilraj Gill for taking on an important role where she was able to demonstrate her knowledge and courage to make such important decisions that have such an impact on the game.

The girls will take on the Essex Red Raiders in the Semi-Finals, at Essex on Thursday, February 13 at 5:00.  Come out and show your support.
Assumption 0 Essex 3
