Girls' first soccer game Tues

With a record four grade 9's starting in their first ever game in the purple jersey and a solid crew of senior members: the ACS Girls Soccer team took the field to start the 2015 WECSSAA SOCCER SEASON.  The Raiders got on the board first in the 22nd minute with Victoria Cope finishing smoothly for her first goal of the season.  Herman equalized just 3 minutes later and then pulled ahead in the 31st minute with a penalty kick on a questionable handball call by the referee.  The Raiders, playing against the wind, went into half time down 2-1.  With a renewed vigour and the wind at their backs ACS drew even just 2 minutes into the second half thanks to a lovely finishing header by Victoria Cope off a perfect Carly Malenfant corner-kick.  The Raiders pushed hard for a winning goal but it was not meant to be as Herman scored from a broken play to pull ahead for good.  The Raiders did not quit, hitting the post two times in the last 20 minutes.  The  Raiders played a cool, calm, and collected, yet determined game and deserved a better result.  Good job ladies.
