Wayne State University is proud to offer the Wayne Med-Direct program to motivated students who are searching for a premier undergraduate experience and medical education, and who are determined to pursue a carrier in medicine with a focus on reducing urban health disparities.
This prestigious pipeline program offers 10 outstanding students admission to Wayne State’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences while also providing four years of paid undergraduate tuition, four years of on-campus room and board, and four years of medical school tuition — with guaranteed admission to the WSU School of Medicine upon meeting program milestones and requirements.
The only program of its kind in Michigan, Wayne Med-Direct gives select undergraduate students the chance to become part of the School of Medicine community years before entering med school. Wayne Med-Direct students will prepare for a bright future alongside a diverse community of scholars led by some of the country’s most esteemed professors and researchers, gaining hands-on experience in clinics and labs along the way.
Wayne Med-Direct scholars also benefit from:
- WSU’s long-standing partnerships with renowned medical institutions for hands-on clinical experience right in our own backyard.
- Faculty members at the forefront of their disciplines who don’t just teach from the books — they write them.
- State-of-the-art labs and research centers such as IBio, a $90 million facility dedicated to eliminating health disparities in Detroit.
To be eligible for Wayne Med-Direct consideration, incoming freshmen must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and 1340 SAT or 30 ACT score. Preference will be given to applicants from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds who are interested in studying health disparities.
Applications will be accepted until Nov. 1, 2017.
